Now, I haven’t seen the show because (1) the ads didn’t interest me that much and (2) other than a con man with 2 chicks, I had no idea what this was about. Nonetheless, I keep hearing this was actually a good show, but apparently did not strike a chord with Fox’s demographic.

So, let’s talk about A-Team, Salt, and Inception.  Talk about The Expendables and Takers will have to wait until I’ve seen them.

A-TEAM:  I love the original show and those were some big boots Liam Neeson had to fill as Hannibal.  But, happily, he did a great job and so did the rest of the team.  Bradley Cooper brought a little more bite to Face, Sharlto Coply was spot on as Murdock, and Rampage did a great job as a conscious-ridden BA.  My only contentions were that they could have given Jessica Biel more to do than look hot holding a gun and chasing the guys and they used Hannibal’s tag line “I love it when a plan comes together!” a little too much.

SALT:  Look, I’m an Angie fan.  I like her, I like her action movies (with the exception of the 2d Lara Croft, but I don’t blame her, and the plus was a hot Gerard Butler, but I digress), and I liked Salt.  It was twisty and turn-y.  As I tried to figure out how she would prove her innocence the movie kept surprising me with a new layer.  It was also nice to re-visit the use of the quintessential 80′s baddies – the Russians.  The open-ended final scene makes promises of a Salt 2…one can only hope.

INCEPTION:  The brainy girl’s action flick!  I purposefully stayed away from any blogs, chatter, or information about this movie.  I knew nothing about it other than it had something to do with dreams and I have never been so happy to know nothing about a movie before I see it.  I have also never been happier to see Joseph Gordon-Levitt rockin’ a 3 piece suit.  I enjoyed this movie for what it was – I didn’t try to figure it out or outsmart it.  It’s a fun ride that you have to just get on board with.  Beautifully shot and well written, granted there were so plot holes or unnecessary scenes (ie: Ellen Page’s totem), but I didn’t care, that’s how much I liked the movie.

Reviews of The Expendables and Takers will be upcoming – from what I hear, Takers may have to wait until it comes out on video.  Which makes me sad because I do love a good heist movie and could stare at Paul Walker almost all day.  But I guess the key word is “good” and what I’ve heard is that it’s not.

I don’t believe in spoiling the movie plot, so I’m not going to break down the whole story for you, besides it’s a little too convoluted.  The basics are: Jake is the youngest prince of Persia, the adopted son of the King.  There is treachery which culminates in war, death, and betrayal and it’s up to Jake and Gemma to defeat the baddies and make it all right again.  Also,  I’m going to make my theory public now, so you read it here first: in these movies, the amount of guyliner worn by the actors correlates directly with how evil they are.   I would urge you all to watch it.  The action is great – the animation and digital effects are much better than most movies based on video games.  All the action is very fluid and does not look/feel over digitized.  The acting is great – it’s got Sir Ben Kingsley (as the King of Persia’s brother) and Alfred Molina (as a conspiracy theorist, anti-tax nomad), so duh, right?

Also, one of my favorite thing to see in action flicks – the kick ass chick!  I hate when the girls are just eye-candy for the guys in the audience.  Gemma Arterton balances the typical snotty princess airs with a  fiesty, kick assiness that makes her Princess Tamina more than just a pretty face.  She may stray a little into Disney princess territory, but it IS a Disney movie, so she’s forgiven.

The fight sequences are gorgeously choreographed and executed to near perfection.  Jake’s (or his stunt double’s) acrobatics are spot on with those featured in the video game that you’d swear he’s defying gravity.  All the leaps, twirls, jumps, and flips are fluid and so perfectly timed that, at the risk of sounding a bit gushy, they were poetry in motion.

If the above is not enough to get you in the theaters, I can tell you, when Jake pointed to his torso (sadly covered) and told the audience “This is your Sex & the City” he wasn’t lying.  Personally I don’t care what Carrie and the girls are wearing, drinking or doing, I want to see what Jake’s not wearing in this movie!

The Losers

Now, many people didn’t see this.  If you are reading this and are one of them, go.  GO NOW! Come back after and read the blog.  Seriously, it was a good flick, with the exception of Jason Patric’s run for Ray Liotta’s “Scenery Chewer” title.  Hot boys, kick ass girl, over the top and crazy villain, explosions, gun fights, and a good old fashion twist at the end.

Robin Hood

Speaking of kick ass girls, Cate Blanchett is fantastically awesome.  I haven’t seen the movie yet, but her Maid Marion keeps up with the boys and kicks medieval ass.  What’s not to love. Ok, ok, people keep saying it’s Gladiator in England with tights.  I say – who cares?!?!?! Good flick, good actors, good battle scenes.  I’m in!

Look people, I’m not a fan of ScarJo, however I hear she does a really good job as Black Widow and I’m more of a Pepper Potts fan anyway.  But how about Mickey Rourke with the crazy as Whiplash?  And of course, the fantasticalness that is Robert Downey Jr.  I would pay money to watch that man read a cereal box!  I’m going to go see it this weekend!

Then coming soon (in order of release):  Prince of Persia (ABS!), A-Team, Jonah Hex, SALT (!), The Expendables, Takers (Paul Walker and a crew of pretty) – it’s gonna be a good summer!

First, I have found a new show to love.  It’s been on since last year, but I recently uncovered it and CASTLE is so stupendously awesome.  The witty banter, the silly jokes, the hotness that is Nathan Fillion and the sassy that is Stana Katic.  It brings comparison to Tracy & Hepburn.  Love it.  Go get the Season One DVD and catch up on hulu.com or abc.com for Season 2.

Second, BONES’ 100th episode is airing this week.  Cannot wait.  Also a show I got into a little late in the game.  I caught up by watching all of Season 1 – 3 back to back to back on hulu.com (hey Hulu, how about some love for all the mentions?).  Season 4 and 5 (current) have been watched live and/or on hulu on the days I’ve had to miss it.  And, least we forget, Hart Hanson was our inaugural Hot Writer Of The Week!!

Last, the pretty that is Paul Walker.  With Michael Vartan’s recent engagement, I was forced to find another hottie to focus on and, since FAST & FURIOUS was in my film movie que, he gets the attention (oh stop it – it’s not Shakespeare, but remember I’m the Action Chick – not Iambic Pentameter Chick).  Faster and even more Furious (F&F5) has been announced and apparently Fastest and Furiousest (F&F6) is following right behind…so yay for more pretty Paul Walker.  Just wish he’d do a movie without cars being the main character.  Oh, wait, Takers is coming up.  Don’t know yet how I feel about that movie, but I’ll let you know in the upcoming posts.

Just so we’re clear…. ALL the GUYS/GALS are SUPER TALENTED WRITER STARS! WE LOVE THIS SHOW!

We love Rashad Raisini because he likes to stroll around his apartment in Jammies when unemployed. Which is probably not going to be an issue from now on. (See eps. “Seek and Destroy” and “Friends Like These”).

You’ve also got this Micheal Horowitz character, who likes to kill off blondie fashonistas hellbent on finding out who stole from her Jimmy Choo cookie jar. We like him because he killed off a gal with more shoes than we do.

Then there’s the twins, Craig O’Neill & Jason Tracey. They wrote episode 3 (“Fight or Flight” + many more). We love them for loving to drop an f(ish) bomb every now and again. Craig measures in at 6’5. I love tall. Not sure about Jason’s height, but I’ll assume he is very handsome.

Ben Watkins played a doctor on TV. So he can be for reals in saying, “I’m not a doctor, but I played one on TV.” if the opportunity presented itself.

Finally, Co-Executive Producer/Writer Alfredo Barrios, Jr. once worked for Law & Order. My dream job. Also, his first name sounds like a yummy Italian cheese sauce.

BURN NOTICE Season Finale Thursday March 5, 2010 10/9c USA

What middle aged television actor has finally found his path in Hollywood after years of kissing the wrong person’s ass. Many wonder what took so long for him to catch on as a big name. What they don’t know is that they only way he got his first starring role was by promising a washed up actress that he would take her with him. She knew people and could get him involved in a lot of films. Now he is on the A list, but has to carry her skeleton with him everywhere he goes. He has tried to lose her, but she is clinging to him like an anorexic to a piece of cake. Not Michael Vartan.
Skeleton/anorexic leads me to believe it’s Renee Zelleweger. Washed up may be a little harsh but she is clinging on to B. Coop like my ass to used dryer sheets.

Another don’t look me in the eyes film set experience. Unlike yesterday when our actress indicated she didn’t like “don’t look me in the eye” notices, this former A list action actor and Academy Award nominee/winner who is now a struggling B- list loves having the don’t talk to me and don’t look me in the eye notices put up on set. During the most recent movie he filmed, the notices went up and a crew member said, “I don’t think anyone has to worry about looking him in the eye because he is so damn short.” After that remark, random crew members would point to the notices when the actor was around and everyone would start laughing. The actor had no idea the entire time that everyone was laughing at him.

I guess ole Sly eyes Stallone… I allege this is his policy with the house staff as well. Like, why? I find this “no looking at me” thing so very strange.

This actor has many successful films to his credit. Since his last couple of films didn’t do so well at the box office, though, he is having a bout of insecurity. He has recently consulted with at least three different plastic surgeons about having his face freshened up. He doesn’t want a nose job or cheek implants or botox. He just wants to look like a younger version of himself. More specifically, he gave each surgeon the following guideline: He doesn’t want to look like Rupert Everett. We are assuming he means that he doesn’t want to look overdone. Then again, he would also probably never accept a role as the gay best friend of Julia Roberts in any film.

Hugh Grant looks “refreshed”. Just sayin’. And it seems he would refer to another Brit as an example.
