Little Shep

Micheal Ausiello broke this over at EW.com/Ausiello files last night…

“Sources confirm to me exclusively that Caterina Scorsone (Lifetime’s 1-800-Missing) is joining — wait for it — Private Practice in the recurring role of Dr. Amelia Shepherd, one of Derek’s never-before-seen sisters.

I’m told the character — nicknamed “Little Shep,” natch — lands a job at Oceanside Wellness.”

ed. note Catarina is the sweetest gal. Couldn’t have happened to a nicer girl.

Hot Writer(s) of the Week…

The Burn Notice Writers! Led by Creator/Writer/Producer extraordinaire Matt Nix. Known to write scripts in one day! That’s hard people!

Just so we’re clear…. ALL the GUYS/GALS are SUPER TALENTED WRITER STARS! WE LOVE THIS SHOW!

We love Rashad Raisini because he likes to stroll around his apartment in Jammies when unemployed. Which is probably not going to be an issue from now on. (See eps. “Seek and Destroy” and “Friends Like These”).

You’ve also got this Micheal Horowitz character, who likes to kill off blondie fashonistas hellbent on finding out who stole from her Jimmy Choo cookie jar. We like him because he killed off a gal with more shoes than we do.

Then there’s the twins, Craig O’Neill & Jason Tracey. They wrote episode 3 (“Fight or Flight” + many more). We love them for loving to drop an f(ish) bomb every now and again. Craig measures in at 6’5. I love tall. Not sure about Jason’s height, but I’ll assume he is very handsome.

Ben Watkins played a doctor on TV. So he can be for reals in saying, “I’m not a doctor, but I played one on TV.” if the opportunity presented itself.

Finally, Co-Executive Producer/Writer Alfredo Barrios, Jr. once worked for Law & Order. My dream job. Also, his first name sounds like a yummy Italian cheese sauce.

If I have left out any of the superstar writers of this brilliant show, please let me know via twitter @theflickchick . I will be happy to devote another column to them! You guys are really amazing! Thanks for our boomy-er Thursday nights!

Hot Writer of the Week…

…goes to this dashing young man here to our left, 24 AND
Flash Forward’s Brannon Braga. Why is he writing and producing two hit shows, you ask? Because he IS that talented. Talented enough to juggle two critcally-acclaimed dramas at the same time. And not as a ‘credited producer’, but an 18 hour day hands-on executive producer/writer. Now, you trekkies who sent Brannon death threats for killing off Capt. Kirk, I don’t expect you to agree with me. But I also don’t expect you to read my posts either. Go away! (ed. note, I had to google “Shatner Star Trek” to get the ‘Kirk’ name.) Seriously.

Yeah, he’s been in the biz 20 some odd years, but look at what Braga has done for television writing lately. He gave 24 the kick in the arse needed last season, drawing back in Jack Bauer’s road-weary viewers with an overall obscure charisma and palpable finesse to Kiefer’s Jack B. And with Flash Forward, Braga churned out the most breathtaking drama pilot to hit the air waves since Crichton’s ER. And, if that doesn’t make the rest of us feel like slackers, as I understand it, Brannon wrote and produced both series at the SAME TIME. What is he, man or machine? I know the answer to that, actually.

Talented + good lookin’ = flickchick approval.

Also, I hear he’s a sweetheart to his mother, aunties, sister and nephew… and that gives my little black heart the pinks.

Showtimes:

24, FOX, Monday 9/8c

Flash Forward, ABC, returns Thursday, March 18th 8/7c

New Year…New Post

Hey there chicks!  So, despite our collective resolution to post early and post often, the new year has started off with us already behind.  But, can you blame us?!?!  Nothing new has aired in a while.  Yeah, I know 24 just kicked off, but honestly, I can’t watch it as it airs because inevitable I miss an ep and then I’m lost and can’t catch up.  I prefer my Jack Bauer in marathon sessions.

Speaking of viewing marathons… I’ve gotten through 3 seasons of Alias in the last 2 months.  I’m on season 4 now, which by most accounts was not on par with the previous 3, however I take my Michael Vartan fixes when and where I can.  Watching season 3, I forgot how much I hated the character of Lauren Reid (Melissa George) and cheered when she met her fate in the season finale.

Another show I urge everyone to watch is Dollhouse.  Sadly, the show is airing its finale this week, however you really ought to rent (or buy) it as the entire concept and story are crazy intriguing.  With pinches of Terminator and the Matrix, and a whole lotta ingenuity from Joss Whedon and Mutant Enemy, and Tahmoh Penikett is crazy hot.

As the shows come back, we’ll chat some more about what we’re watching and why.  And, hey…I’ve inadvertently made this a triple crush o’the week with all the “manjoyment” we’ve provided.

Zoe INTO it!

I have spent the last 7 hours catching up on the second season of THE RACHEL ZOE PROJECT. Three words. I fucking love her.

The finale is tonight at 10p on Bravo. If you have any interest in fashion but haven’t had the opportunity to watch- well, that’s just sad.

Just know, this lady Rachel has taken on the fashion world like no other female. Anna Wintour, the bitch-type whose taste came with Conde Nast’s money and the intimidation of her underlings, has been trying for the last 30 years to be THE influncer. Rachel has risen up to that level in what? 10?Gorgeous. Not since the likes of Coco herself have we seen a whipsmart, sensitive, genius, hilarious, ridiculous, businesswoman make such a sensational splash in the fashion ocean. Yes, the bitch is thin. Is this new to fashion? Hell no!

Is Rachel the new fashion. Hell yes.

How Healthy is Your New Fave Fall Show?

running lapsDoing Laps around the Track:

NCIS: Los Angeles (CBS): Tricked 18.7 million people into watching the Series Premiere last week. While LL Cool J and Chris O’Donnell are both good lookin’ and decent actors, the story and writing are weak but watchable. Methinks a typical Bellisario Production (Magnum PI, JAG, Quantum Leap). Now that NCIS is a solid franchise hit, this show will be hard to beat this year.

The Good Wife (CBS): Stood by her man and gained 13.7 million viewers. Great numbers for a Julianna Margulies/Chris Noth/Josh Charles vehicle. Although it may have been the powerful lead in of NCIS and NCIS: LA that helped The Good Wife. Although, the LAtimes Mary McNamara says “‘The Good Wife’ promises to be that Holy Grail of television: a good criminal procedural that barely disguises the insightful, multilayered human drama that lies beneath.” Either way, The Good Wife is in good shape.

Flash Forward(ABC) saw 12.4 million viewers last Wednesday. This show has had a full order from the get go, considering networks have been outbidding each other for the treatment(pitch) for a year. Plus, the hefty duo of David Goyer (The Dark Knight) & Brannon Braga (24, Mission Impossible 2) at the helm gives the show some serious Hollywoodpower. We will see this though till the end for sure. Especially after they move to the time slot to follow Lost in January.

The Vampire Diaries (CW) only scared up 4.8 million but that was The CW’s highest debut ever. So, yeah. More vampire shit.

The Cleveland Show (Fox) did well with about 9.5 million viewers, further inflating Seth MacFarlane’s ego. Ahem. But I’m a huge fan of Family Guy, so I won’t be too hard on Seth. But if you hear of him going ape-shit crazy on a hotel room or on a ho (actually you won’t hear about that), don’t say I didn’t tell you it was coming.

Glee (Fox) drew a decent 7.2 million, although it’s still being considered a victory since a show this good and quirky actually seems to be finding some sort of audience. I think they should put Arrested Development back on. Just sayin’.

prep for surgeryPrepping for Surgery

The Jay Leno Show (NBC) somehow duped 18 million 80 year olds into staying up past 10pm, but then, just the thought of Leno lulled 75% of them to sleep by 7pm the next week. Stop polishing the terd, NBC.

Community (NBC) also had a strong-ish opener with 7.7 million. Most just did not bother to switch the channel from The Office on previous to the new Chevy Chase, Joel McHale venture. But, by week two, 2 million folks cared enough to find the remote stuck in the couch cushions and turn this shit off.

Mercy (NBC) ugh. NBC. Just put on Law & Order re-runs this year and re-group. Please?

DOADOA

Brothers (Fox) Series premiere: 2.8 million. Never heard of it. Not many other people have either.

Melrose Place (CW) 2.0 Series Premiere: 2.3 million. Second show, add about another 2 people and there you go. There is Network confidence, or an abundance of 1990′s sorority girls now in Executive positions at the CW. My former neighbor stars, but he was always kind-of a “I know I’m a Hot Piece” type, so I’m torn. Heather Locklear re-debuts in November. Eh.

The Beautiful Life (CW) CANCELLED! I liked it. Sad Face. But I did want Mischa Barton killed off. I guess the lesson here is, Be careful what you wish for…

Jenny Slate, G-E-N-I-U-S…

jenny slate

Why?

Did YOU know who she was before the f-bomb was delivered on SNL’s 39th(!?) season premiere? I did not. Most did not. Now we do…and I can’t wait to tune in. I mean, who goes and upstages Megan Fox these days? Jenny Slate does, that’s who. Word.

Not Only But Also, she ain’t getting fired.

House Renovations?

God, I hope not. The season premiere was a snoozer. Do we want a kinder, gentler Dr. Gregory House? NO. He’s perfectly screwed up. Maybe Hopefully that 2 hour season opener was one giant tease. Or he wakes up from a bad dream and his assjerk self is taking a shower.

Crush of the Week

Dean Winters… Hmmm, where do I begin. Oz! Tom Fontana’s brilliant, brutal, erotic, disturbing, mind-blowing prison drama. Scared the beejesus outta me, BUT I loyally watched, just covered my eyes on the scary parts. Mr. Winter’s deliciously played the ultimate bad boy in Ryan O’Reilly. He went so far as to order his brother to murder his obsession/prison doctor’s husband so he could have her to himself and have his brother in prison with him. WHAT? Yes, I loved Ryan O’Reilly. Because Dean Winter’s played it on the line, Ryan O’Reilly oozed an abhorrent sociopathy, but yeah, I’d date him. Well done Dean.

After a stint on Law and Order SVU, a guest role on Sex and the City , Tina Fey’s beau on 30 Rock, Winters has most recently played Denis Leary’s copdeanwinters younger brother on FX’s hit show, Rescue Me.

He plays the hot, I’m great in bed smirky type so well… He could easily rescue me….

Crush of the Week

michael-vartanJohnna Chick may be posting her own, however I’d like to share my crush of the week (actually just a permanent one)…  MICHAEL VARTAN.

Previously a hot superspy of Alias fame, he then played a hot French chef in the short lived Kitchen Confidential.  He’s now on Hawthorne playing a hot doctor.  Y’all, if I can’t have a real live doctor hubby, I’ll take one that plays a doctor on TV.

He’s also got a few movies under his belt, 2 of my favorites being One Hour Photo (because we get to see his bare bum) and Mists of Avalon (because we get to see his bare bum).  I did not watch Monster In Law, mostly because I can’t stomach JLo, but might just because he’s in it.

Aside from that, the man is French (ooh la la) (actually, he was born in France, but is Polish/Bulgarian – whatever…potato, potahto) and looks hot sporting a shiner.  And, he’s a talented actor.  Seriously.  Check him out at www.imdb.com.
